Artificial intelligence-based projects

Ai Weapons detector

The project leveraged YOLOv8, incorporating a Vision Transformer (ViT), as the foundation for developing a weapons detection model. Using Python scripting based on a standard RoboFlow model, the team trained the model on Google Colab, monitoring metrics like mAP, loss rate, and confusion matrix. Challenges included converting X-ray image annotations to a compatible format and addressing a shortage of shuriken and knife images by using unannotated dataset images. Issues with uploading annotations to RoboFlow were resolved by creating a conversion program. The project, named “Outsiden’t,” encountered errors in Colab due to the apostrophe, necessitating its removal. The weapon detection system utilizes computer vision and bounding boxes to identify and locate weapons in X-rayed luggage, addressing underrepresented categories through additional dataset incorporation.
